Area 44 will be extended today with the following 6 nodes:
FLUOR 44.29 Alpha Server 1000A 5/333 VMS 7.3-2
BROOM 44.14 Alpha Server 1200 VMS 7.3-2
IJZER 44.19 Compaq Prof. Workstation VMS 8.3
TIN 44.28 Alpha Server 1200 VMS 8.3
CARBON 44.33 DEC AXP 3000 MODEL 300x VMS 1.5-1H1
OXYGEN 44.34 DEC AXP 3000 MODEL 300x VMS 6.1
Note the english names for 33 and 34. In dutch the elements are called
koolstof and zuurstof and these names are obviously too long.
Any suggestions for names of elements that are 6 characters or less, in
other languages? See my current list on home.zonnet.nl/hvlems
There's one in french: Azote for nitrogen (stikstof).
I did :-( and a couple more even, before I found out that I forgot to shut
down the bridge program...
My apologies all.
Hans

Oleg,
I know the periodic table is a Russian invention :-)
There are about 45 computers in the house, including the 34 VAX and Alpha
systems plus a couple of virtual systems (simh).
So I'm not even close to halfway the periodic table... My website mentions
this, see home.zonnet.nl/hvlems

Wouldn't it be nice to add gps coordinates so we can view locations on
Google Earth?
I thought about this feature (and I have it on my OpenBSD developers
location map at http://pdp-11.org.ru/~form/openbsd/map/).
But some of us don't want to publish real location :)

I tried the cd on a VAXstation 4000 so I'm pretty sure the cd is correct.
May be it got damaged during transport but that ought to be obvious on
visual inspection.
What year was the 3100 model 98 released?

Hadn't thought about that to be honest. I live in a calm part of the world
apparently.
Besides, all my systems live in the attic and I don't really think that
there are idiot thieves in this town that have set their mind on owning,
say, an alpha server 1200 and be prepared to move 60 kgs of hardware down
two stories :-)
Helmond will do !

I agree.
At least I don't want thieves to come and rob or destroy my computers
and other stuff. I think the city is exact enough location.

If there is a support issue then a machine check is not unexpected :-(

MCHK??? Could this be "Machine Check"? If so I would try booting something
else up to see if it also fails.
-Steve
Anyone have experience of installing Ultrix?
I tried to boot off the Ultrix VAX 4.4 CD but got an error after a
while, something like MCHK.
Any ideas? Do I need to provide some fancy boot flags? This is onto a
VAXserver 3100/95.
Regards, Mark.
