Maybe we could get HECnet involved somehow? Or are we already doing
this and I've totally missed the boat on it all?

Sampsa,
I'll be there demoing some DEC gear - I can up the hecnet heat and see
if I can get networked in for the weekend.
Regards, Mark.
Steve,
Do you know how I could write a bit-by-bit image to a floppy using VMS? I need to create a floppy from an image file and the only machine i have around to do it with is CHIMPY.

Sampsa,
It doesn't mention HECnet by name on the website. If you can arrange it, maybe put in a HECnet gateway there. Just the gateway, nothing else.
I will commit to bringing all of my systems (and clusters) up for that weekend. None of the machines here are newer than 1993 and that includes the Alpha's. The earliest hardware that can be on the net is circa 1985. Everything here is DEC and only DEC not Compaq and certainly not HP. This means that the only thing that will be available will be actual hardware (from this end). I could (maybe) have up to 15 machines running by then. I can see that electric meter move now - probably faster than it ever has! I can bring up PDP-11's, VAXen, and Alpha's.
I did not publish this to the list intentionally. Let me know if I need to be able to bring everything up. Also, all of the various gateways should be stable by then so we can really show something. Maybe show how vintage systems can still communicate in the current world with current hardware.

Gentlemen,
I've rolled up a bit of Linux DECNET C code and some bash scripts to do a PHONE DIR on all the nodes on HECNET (well at least the ones FIDOGW is aware of, I periodically update it's node database from MIM).
The results are then copied to the Apache server running on RHESUS, where you can now get a nice quick glance as to who is logged in on HECnet, all in one place:
http://rhesus.sampsa.com/hecnetdir.html
Comments and feedback are welcome, if you wish your node(s) to be excluded from the scan, let me know.

No problems, I thought I had broken something on my end - been messing with the config no end.

Bob,
I've been messing with my MULTINET setup, so have seemed to have lost my link from GORVAX to you.
Any chance you can reboot it to see if the link comes back up?
