That's what I'm trying to do with the "Dropbox" on CHIMPY:: - anyone can add or view files, but not delete or edit them. Just not sure what the correct security setting for the directory should be...
Is this type of security option on a dir possible? I can't figure out how to set it up, but somebody amongst you gurus must know :)
You can set RWE for world set on the directory by default, but have a script periodically set all files to w:RE only. There's probably a better way to do it, though.

A DECserver speaking DECnet? That'd be awesome to have. Mine (albeit awesome, and one of my favourite things) only speaks LAT. ;)

I like the idea of being able to mail and phone users from HECnet to EISNER,
EISNER::LAINE_SA just becomes a lot more meaningful :)

BTW, there's still stuff to be claimed before it goes to be scrapped
including a lot of uVAXen (including a VAX 4000/700 I just unearthed today),
uPDP-11s, 11/34s, 11/44s, a Sun 4/110, DEC Rainbows and a DEC Robin that I
"discovered". The final weekend for picking this stuff up is 10/19 and
10/20. I'm taking the final load up on 10/26. Anything after that will be
scrapped the following week (there's some exceptions for folks that are
picking up/shipping some *big* stuff...they know who they are and don't have
to panic). So if anyone wants anything let me know (no I won't ship
anything...it defeats the purpose).

It's a shame he's in CA and I don't know anyone there willing to ship in the
area. :(

Yeah, and unlike most peoples online photos, that one is fairly recent! It's actually a passport photo. No smiling allowed. I do smile occasionally, when my extended family isn't making my life hell ;)
I was thinking a page with photos of hecnetters might be a good idea. I could easily be persuaded otherwise
