Thought I'd insert a thought here: Friday I applied for a hobbyist

The last time I tried doing that it was for the VAX, and it came back
that day. I wonder what's going on behind that site this time.

Hello,
Sometimes there seem to be issues with the licensing system at Montagar. The guy behind the system is AFAIK doing the hobbyist maintenance in his spare time.
I have also had to wait a couple of times for my licenses. You can send him mail or just try the license fetching again.
Kari
I think the licensing mechanism relies on external links that aren't always that reliable. Post a message on openvmshobbyist.org asking about the state if you have no luck.
Mark.

Hello!
Actually I was not aware of that fact. For example I am aware that
someone does have 51 assigned to them, at one point.

Gregg,
I have sent you the HECnet area list.
If someone is on HECnet, or just logged into Mim (telnet to
Mim.Update.UU.SE, and login with guest/guest), you can check areas and
nodenames at:
MIM::US:[DECNET]DECNET.TXT (areas)
MIM::US:[DECNET]NODENAMES.ALL (nodenames)
And as others mentioned, areas only go from 1 to 63, while node numbers
within one area go from 1 to 1023.
And there is no special algorithm for assigning area numbers. If you
think you want one, and it's free, just let me know.
Johnny

Hello!
I'm in the processof obtaining a system with the mentality who could
be able to run this Free AXP emulator. So far I've got it installed on
this laptop.
As far as the OS goes, it will be VMS for the AXP platform. I've got
it tagged as such.
Next question, how are we numbering areas, this season? For example, I
am interested in 156. The chosen Name would then announced shortly
after all is well with regards to the installation arrangements. The
bridging program would be running on my Linux box, with the host for
the Free AXP emulator sending its data thatway.
Incidentally Sampsa pat yourself on the back, and enjoy an extra
something to drink, because you were the inspiration this week for
that idea. (I don't know if the system arrives this week or next.
There are some idiotic legal issues involved.)

Sampsa (and others),
At around midnight local Dutch time (UTC+2) the ftp server Cesium will be shut down, owing to the noise and heat that the system produces..

I just tried the first one, on both OS X and VMS, and it said no zip file directory was found..

Hans,
Any chance you can bring that FTP server up again?
Also, I tried unzipping the first file, and it seemed to be corrupted...

It is time for me to get some sleep, so the systems in area 44 are being shut down.
If there are people interested to finish their ftp sessions, please let me know and I ll start the systems tomorrow again. It is too noisy in the house (and too expensive) to keep them running.
