I think that was Chrissie, who offered to move away. Or do I remember wrong?

I have got now 3 area routers in area 3 ready on fixed IP addresses
and capable of Multinet tunneling. They are:
NUK1c 3.171 193.2.191.211
RVDSXL 3.47 193.2.191.212
MUSIPC 3.222 84.255.246.85
Is MIM node database accessible via TCP/IP too?
How do you mean by "via TCP/IP"? I can easily create a text file with the node names and numbers, if you want to.

Hi Guys,
Just to let those know who are downloading archives & patches from SLAVE over hecnet that there has already been disruption today and there will be further disruption to service tomorrow with the new internet line going in. Hopefully things will be both more stable and faster following the switch over.
This will also mean that the hecnet.eu domain IP address will need to be updated - this will cause further outage until the new IP is propagated to all DNS servers.
Regards, Mark.

Thank you for the offer. Another kind soul private messaged me with a link. I'm downloading it now, but it's a bit slow. If there are any problems, I may ask you for help. I have 8.3 but I don't have any of the layered products, so technically I don't need the whole image.

Subject: [HECnet] VMS Alpha Hobbyist kit?
Does anyone have a copy of the VMS Alpha hobbyist kit that I could get electronically? I have ordered and paid for a physical copy a couple of weeks ago, and I have my Paypal receipt to prove it, but I haven't heard anything back about it being shipped.

Ian,
If you need individual layered products they are on SLAVE::[MEDIA.ALPHA_MEDIA]
Slave is up 24/7 at the moment helping to dry out a slightly damp basement, otherwise it's pot luck normally.

Subject: [HECnet] Ultrix downloads from SLAVE...
Hi guys,
Is anyone attempting to download the Ultrix ISOs from SLAVE?
If so, I'll save you a lot of time and pain by burning a CDROM and
posting it.
Regards, Mark.
I do!
I am almost finished and there was no pain at all :-)
Thank you!
OK, no problems, thanks for the response.
It does raise a question at this end however.
I have a remote use who logs in via telnet.
Whilst I can happily limit the bandwidth that SLAVE uses overall at my router to stop the upstream connection saturating and causing therefore the downstream connection to grind to a halt, this also causes the connection to slow for my remote user.
Can anyone suggest any techniques that I might use to prioritise telnet connections over HTTP connections? Is this something that solely comes down to the responsibility of a competent router, or does VMS provide any facilities?
I suppose one way would be to configure a proxy and route http traffic via the proxy, or alternatively could I install two network cards in the ALPHA and serve the internet through one connection and telnet through the other (which would allow me to apply different upload/download restrictions based on IP address at the router. Could this same principle be applied to the HECnet connection?
On a similar subject (sorry if this is becoming boring now!) I asked on comp.os.vms about flakey DE500 network cards. Am I right in thinking that DE602s are the way to go to stabilise the connection between two local cluster nodes?
It would be nice to reach some kind of sensible balance, where everyone is happy!
Regards, Mark.
