Hi all. Update have an 11/10, that was recently powered on again for the
first time in I don't know when. After some fiddling with the RX01
disks, we put an RL11 and an RL02 on it. Lots of space, I know. :-)
Also, we have RT-11 running on it. And for fun, we wanted to run the
original Tetris. But here is the catch - Tetris is using some
instructions that the 11/10 don't have. (I would guess EIS stuff.)
Do anyone know if there is some software emulation of these instructions
that can be added to RT-11 in order to be able to run such programs?
RT-11 V5.5 by the way, if anyone wants to know. And no, I am not sitting
by the machine, or trying to play with it personally. It's other people
at Update. But an 11/10 is cute.
And we did boot the RL02 on Magica (11/70) to check that there is
nothing wrong with the binary, and it runs fine on that large machine.

If Tetris is written in FORTRAN then re-link with the NHD (no hardware dependency) version
of the OTS.

Very nice! It looks like Steve's got you covered on the FORTRAN OTS
issue.
I recently got my 11/05 running too (same machine, as you know), also
RT-11 but v5.3. It's got an RK05 and an RX01. It's a really fun
system. It is my oldest PDP-11.

It contains TETRIS which runs at least at 11/03-compatible CPU withoud EIS, and EIS
emulator driver for RT-11 w/o device timeout
support (I can ask for driver sources later).
Also you can get patched version of TETRIS which runs under RTEM-11 from
CTAKAH/GUEST::TETRIS.SAV

This is the very TETRIS.SAV that Johnny (and bjarni and vol) are running
on the 11/10 and the same one that I successfully ran on my 11/73 with
RT-11 v5.3 (I think it was).
But I suffer memory loss here, what is that your patch does? I recall
that the terminal _input_ was fixed to work with VT52 mode terminals.
Anything else?

I need more info to look what's happening at 11/10 :)
My patch just disables instructions to test if terminal outpur interrupts are disabled (no
pending output in RT-11). I don't know
why tetris does this (it uses RT-11 standard tty i/o directives then).
What are the memory requirements for running
TETRIS.SAV?
TETRIS uses addresses 1000-32416, no MMU required :)

That's the one we copied. So then then question becomes what is it
failing on? It gets an illegal instruction trap.
The 11/10 have even less instructions than an 11/03, I think. But I know
too little of RT-11 to really know how to debug this.
