PLUTO:: runs RSTS/E 10.1L and DECnet version 4.1
Dumb RSTS question - what is the "L" in 10.1L ?? Is that a patch level of some
kind?
Bob
No, the patch levels aren't directly shown. It's the base level designation. If
that term is not familiar: base level is a DEC (and others) term for a step in the
development cycle where a bunch of stuff gets integrated. Typically there were a dozen or
so base levels per release. In early RSTS releases, the minor version was a letter and
the base level a number (V4A-12); then as of V7.0 the minor release code changed to a
letter and then the baselevel became a letter to have the whole thing fit in 6 characters.
