But as far as 3rd party stuff goes, Ultrix is

But almost everything back then did. :) I built hundreds of packages
under Ultrix when it was my primary platform both at home and at work,
for many years. I rarely had issues. As with anything else, though,
there were "problem areas"...resolver, etc as you mentioned. (same issue
with SunOS..) It's really quite easy to get common stuff running under
Ultrix.
Back then, a lot did indeed provision for Ultrix. Now it's unusual to see.
And I just remembered another one - syslog was from the stone age.
Probably the first thing you want to replace with a modern version...
There's a DECnet for Ultrix, which I've
just started looking at.
I don't know if it will run under 4.5. Does anyone know offhand?
I think at least the verison for 4.4 works just fine on 4.5 as well.
4.0 I don't know...
Where can I find the 4.4 package? I have one, but I don'tthink it's
4.4.
I don't have it, but there are definitely people on HECnet who do...
Update used to run a seriously hacked Ultrix, but we never had DECnet.
