And the reason for that is probably protonmail...
From my mail server:
GW:/home/bqt> host -t mx
protonmail.com
protonmail.com mail is handled by 5 mail.protonmail.ch.
protonmail.com mail is handled by 10 mailsec.protonmail.ch.
GW:/home/bqt> host -t mx mail.protonmail.ch
Host mail.protonmail.ch not found: 2(SERVFAIL)
GW:/home/bqt> host mail.protonmail.ch
Host mail.protonmail.ch not found: 5(REFUSED)
GW:/home/bqt>
From Update:
Psilocybe:bqt/krille> host -t mx
protonmail.com
protonmail.com mail is handled by 5 mail.protonmail.ch.
protonmail.com mail is handled by 10 mailsec.protonmail.ch.
Psilocybe:bqt/krille> host -t mx mail.protonmail.ch
mail.protonmail.ch has no MX record
Psilocybe:bqt/krille> host mail.protonmail.ch
mail.protonmail.ch has address 185.70.41.101
Psilocybe:bqt/krille>
Protonmail is blocking me from even resolving their names...

Funny. Looking in my inbox I did find a mail from you

I did reply to it.
So you are wrong in that implied accusation that people ignored you.
However, I obviously can't answer the question if you got my reply, or
if it was sorted as spam, or if it got blocked somewhere, or what.
But here is my reply again, copied from my sent mail:

Hello Johnny,
Having got my VAXstation 4000 vlc (used by me since it was launched
in the very
early 1990's) back up and running again I'd really like to
get it connected to HECnet. Currently running VAX/VMS 7.2 and awaiting a
suitable twisted pair transceiver (due on the 14th) it is otherwise
ready to go. I have a suitable RPI2 just waiting to provide the ethernet
bridge.
Well, I would prefer if we didn't use a bridge. It works, but it's not
exactly the best scaling solution.
Two other options I would recommend first would be either installing VMS
Multinet, which allows DECnet circuits over TCP/IP, or the PyDECnet
router software, which you can also run on that RPI2.
