Having got my VAXstation 4000 vlc (used by me since it was launched
in the very
early 1990's) back up and running again I'd really like to
get it connected to HECnet. Currently running VAX/VMS 7.2 and awaiting a
suitable twisted pair transceiver (due on the 14th) it is otherwise
ready to go. I have a suitable RPI2 just waiting to provide the ethernet
bridge.
Well, I would prefer if we didn't use a bridge. It works, but it's not
exactly the best scaling solution.
Two other options I would recommend first would be either installing VMS
Multinet, which allows DECnet circuits over TCP/IP, or the PyDECnet
router software, which you can also run on that RPI2.
