There are only two I'm aware of.
Multinet giving you DECnet-over-IP, and DECnet phase V, which also can
transport DECnet over IP.
? I?m aware of Paul?s Python router, but I
didn?t think it ran on a
VAX.? Am I wrong about that?? Is there a Python for OpenVMS/VAX?? I
believe there?s a port for AXP but I didn?t know about one for VAX.
Available or not, I do not think it can route the machines own traffic.
? And I saw Rob mentioned his user mode DECnet
router.? Same
questions ? what environment does that require?? ?And I saw mention it
being both Multinet and simh DDCMp compatible ? will it talk to a simh
KS10/TOPS10/DMR ?
Same problem about not being able to hook into the local machine traffic.
Of course VMS has its own DECnet router anyway. So you just need to put one
network interface on the bridge and one on your LAN, then you don?t need
either Paul's or my router at all. If you just want to run a user mode
router on VMS for the heck of it then I think you are right, although I am
not sure if pcap would still deliver the packets to the user mode router. I
have not thought about this, but it could get confusing. But you could run a
user mode router on VMS if VMS machine itself was outside the DECnet
network.
