Just got done reviewing the simh mailing list archive myself. I had no idea this debate
was going on.
Do we know at what date the "V4" simh started adding metadata to the disk
images?
After reading all this I immediately looked at the image files for my simh instances and
I don't think there's any extra bytes in there, but it's tough to be certain.
