With all this talk of the ES40 I just have to drool all over this laptop.
... and here I thought the DS10 I just acquired was fast. I'm not sure I'd like the electric bill from the ES40 though (although I'm sure Ohio Edison would like me ...)
Also, to save me from starting another thread, was wondering if anyone had a 50-pin internal SCSI CDROM that's capable of booting OpenVMS. The old one I have in my other Alpha (the 255/233) seems to get upset when I put the caddy in and immediately eject it, disc or not. Would pay reasonable amount plus shipping to 44870.

Titaan is HECnet node 44.35
The DS20E is not cheap to run at Dutch kWhr prices....
Let me know when I can shut it off and turn on the central heating :)

Umm, I wasn't very clear there, was I ? :) Actually I was wondering how
Oleg had figured that out. That you'd be able to find the information
from the VMS source listings is no real surprise. Even though it implies
that formally unsupported hardware is documented in the sources. But
hypothetically, you have an Adaptec AHA2944UW controller how would an
ordinary VMS user figure that out? The hex id is vendor and model
related. But how to figure out what PK driver is required? Or is the PKA
driver a kind of catch all driver?

Brian, Speaking of source listings, VMS V4.<mumble> had a "secret" patch

There were only 3 or 4 modules written in PL/I. Those were rewritten in C.
Why not Bliss? Dunno.
I vaguely recall that "patch". I'll have to refresh my memory and then see
if somethign similar can be done to enable it in modern versions of MONITOR.
