HI,
I will be bringing up a new decnet area on hecnet (Area 22) in the
near future.
Can I please have info on the peering for IP and any other config
details that may help. I will be using a DECbrouter 90 (Cisco) V11.1.
So, anyone know if the DECrouter will do, and who would be willing to act
as
a peer?

Hmmm... Didn't know much about DECbrouter until I looked it up following
these emails. If I have it right
(http://manx.classiccmp.org/collections/mds-199909/cd2/network/decbroma.pdf)
all DECbrouters have only one Ethernet interface and a one or more
(depending on model) WAN connections using synchronous serial lines. I am
wondering how this could be used on HECnet. I don't think anyone offers any
synchronous serial way into HECnet, or am I wrong?
That leaves the one Ethernet interface. To be able to use that would need
the bridge (or my user mode router, or some other hardware router) to be on
the same LAN. But at that point there wouldn't be a lot of point having the
DECbrouter as it would not have anything to route.
Have I missed something? Is the DECbrouter 90 (Cisco) a different beast?
Regards
Rob

V11.1 supports GRE, Decnet IV Level 1 and 2 so I am hoping so. :-)
Yup, it definitely works fine. I have a DECbrouter 90T2 that I use to connect to HECnet running IOS 10.3(7), I am on area 12.
However, at the moment I am having a bit of trouble with my router I and am waiting on a spare to be sent to me.
Brian Hechinger is the guy who is maintaing all the links. He follows the list and will likely answer you very soon.

If I play with ucx will i break multinet if its been installed?
NO. They're two complete and separate TCP/IP stack installations.
You'll need to look for the Multinet installation directory and also through
your system startup (SYS$STARTUP: and SYS$STARTUP:SYSTARTUP_VMS.COM) files
to see if you are, indeed, starting Multinet. If UCX (TCPIP Services) has
been configured to startup, you'll need to make a decision as to which one
you want because you can only have one TCPIP stack.
Assuming that your PAKs are valid for these two products, your issue would
probably be one of just starting one over the other.

Well I speak to machines with the voice of humanity.
Sorry about that. Do not know what the hell happened. Changed the password to the web mail.
Usually only use my iPhone for email, but only seemed to do that to this account and mail list.
Thanks for the heads up.

Like Greg said. Mike have been hacked, or else have some virus problems, or something...
Mike, please respond asap that you have things under control, or else I'm going to kick you off the list...
Johnny
You can install both ucx and multinet but use just one of course.
Is dka200 used in systartup_vms or in files called by it?
