Brian, would you like to get this all joined in to the mesh? Is a NA
hub still needed or has someone else offered one? (This'd be on an
unmetered gigE pipe)
I think running a hub on an emulated router maybe isn't the best idea.
(sorry to say so)
We also have to take in to account how to get some kind of resonalble
routing, as the inside of an area is not exchanged with other areas.

Very well. I'll dedicate the IP to running ancient Solaris or something then.;)

Hello!
Most of them. Dave is just trying to do my job. Especially since
there's a big annoyed Wookiee paying him to do that, with interest and
a requirement to pay him back.

I would say they're usually around the "well, let's do it because we CAN".
BTW, we need to get started on the X.25 network soon. Followed by an ISDN-over-IP network. HECPTN, guys!

Hello,
Anyone has experience setting up that? I _did_ it partially something like 30 years ago, using Message Router (but no internet mail, just A1 and VMSMAIL). I'm trying to do it again (with not a lot of success... I can't even make it BEGIN to work). Anyone has tried (and succeeded) at this?

HECnet: BITXOV::JGUILLAUMES
The tricky part is the ALLIN1 mail. SMTP <-> VMSMAIL is (relatively) easy. But ALLIN1 is a different beast.
I can send mail from ALLIN1 to the internetz using an address like SMTP%"adress at domain.com"@MRGATE at BITXOW but it is clearly a kludge... And the reply address (internet to ALLIN1) is even worse, something like "BITXOW::MRGATE::\"A1::JGUILLAUMES\""@bitxow.jguillaumes.dyndns.org... which anyway does not work (my postfix server chokes at that recipient...).
I'm pretty sure there has to be an easier/more elegant way to do it.

RULES
-----
I hate rules, basically, but here's what we got:
The basic rules are that there's a "Whatever" conference where you can literally talk about whatever, and then specific conference for specific subjects - I know how easily stuff gets OT, so try to move it to "Whatever" after like half a dozen messages or so :)
We should be up by tomorrow or so, UTC, I think..
PS: For those of you not wanting to install a NOTES client, HILANT (which LABVAX is part of) offers guest accounts and you can get access that way. Log in as ACCTREQ and I'll roll you an account ASAP.

My comment on Eisner was just for the functionality it offers, i.e. Notes. It was _not_ my intention to have them connected. I like the HECnet setup as it is!

Uh, I don't want those guys on HECnet to be honest.
They encourage "security research" and well, I like the open and safe-ish feeling we have right now.
Speaking as an ex-pentester here..

That was one of Zane H.'s systems if I recall correctly.
NOTES is running on MISER:: (and MISER runs 24/7). All I'd need to know
is what conferences folks want me to add.
