You can basically CTERM out to other boxes and download files using a horrendous GUI to FAL.
But it works nicely, does LAT too.

Fun! Where would I get it? ;)
While you're at it, DECnet/DOS was really nice for the time. I
believe (but am not certain, can anyone clarify?) that it is what grew
into Pathworks.
DEC made an 8-bit ISA Ethernet card, that also (inexplicably) had a
port on it for one of the DEC "puck" mice.
DECnet/DOS supported file transfers and CTERM, and I think LAT but I
may be misremembering that part. I seem to recall it having worked
pretty well. At the time, I was using it on my home network, which
consisted of a MicroVAX-II, a VAXstation-2000, and a 16MHz 80286-based
DOS machine, the latter of which was state of the art at the time.
Does anyone have a copy of DECnet/DOS? I no longer do, at least not
that I can find.

Hello everyone!
It's one of those weird nights where i'm playing with my NT 4 domain again and a question occurred to me: can I do anything with DECnet and NT 4.0?
What software would I need and where would I get it? ;)
Google seems to mention Pathworks, but I can't find /too/ much information on it.
Hello!
Hmmmm. Sampsa it seems you are wanted. Incidentally the annoying
entities outside your area have left citing the fact that they do not
work on Fridays.

Hello!
Incidentally gang if any of you are interested in the references,
please take a look at "Soul of a new machine". The book tells the
amazing story of the birth of the 32 bit machines at DG. There's the
mention of a machine along the lines of what you've described
participating in the debugging of the new fellows.
