Good point about where the tapes might have come from. As far as your question about
making a tape image, I'm not sure that any of the standard RSX utilities will do
that.
The DECUS utility that was used to duplicate tapes was TPC and the later version
BIGTPC. It exists on various DECUS tapes but I'd be concerned that the wrong version
might replicate the problem we've seen.
It would be good to get Johnny's input on what to use to recover the tapes.
