I ran a SEARCH and it wasn't too bad..
Might try a DIR or something next - I wonder what a DIR or SEARCH over DECNET would do :)

So, the questions is - Does VMS support 12,000+ files in one directory? How responsive
is it?

I found a converter to turn the single mbox file into 12,000+ .EML (==plain ASCII) files.
They're now up on the dropbox:
CHIMPY:[.DROPBOX.LIST-EML] Individual file for each archived message here.
CHIMPY:[.DROPBOX]HECNETLIST-EML.ZIP The whole lot zipped up
Hope somebody finds some use for these :)

BTW, does anyone want the archive split into individual messages, i.e. one message /
file?
Does VMS even support 12,000+ files in one directory?

If I remembered any SQL and my HTML knowledge was more than <blink>,

There has to be something where we can just import the messages and has a browse/search
function. Sticking all this in an SQL database would be pretty simple with an ORM +
Python, but I hate writing web front ends.
