Hi, all.
If you are running an RSX system on HECnet, and you'd like a simple
command line tool to check some information about other nodes, as it is
registered in the Datatrieve database I keep on MIM, I've written one now.
It does require that you have the PDP-11 C runtime libraries installed
(they are installed as a part of BQTCP, and also exists as a component
in RPM).
Just grab MIM::HECNET:DDB.TSK, install it, and off you go.
If you want the sources (it's really simple) they can be found at
MIM::HECNET:DDB.C and you also have a Makefile there that compiles it
for you, in case you want to experiment some.
Example run:
.ddb mim
Node: MIM
Address: 1.13
Owner: Johnny Billquist
OS: RSX-11M-PLUS V4.6
CPU: PDP-11/74 (e11)

I just tried it and it is very cool!
I really enjoyed reading the C code as it is a very nice example
and tutorial of how to access the Datarieve DDM$$$ object via DECnet.
Well written example programs are better than reference manuals any day!

There is a serious problem with your database thing, it
must be corrupting the GEO coordinates:
59.858612 17.638744 is the central square in Uppsala, MIN::
is located at abt:
59.84145130853427, 17.647929315759676

(I did my basic military service in one of the buildings where UU is
located today,and we had several things that used lat/long that we
trained on in the field between Dag Hammarskjolds V}g and the buildings...)

No corruption. I just haven't bothered putting any data in with more
precision. :-)
Basically, for almost all data, I've just taken the lat/long of the
city, with about 6 digits of precision.
Not sure if we really want to have that much more precision on it...

I think there is a good argument to be made for leaving it at that level of precision. I
always prefer to have my current ICBM coordinates be off by a safe distance. :-)

Could be argued if that is a safe distance wrt ICBMs. :-)
However, it's definitely good enough safe distance from unwanted callers.

By the way, the coordinates you gave a pretty good, but the machine hall
is actually in the northwest corner of the building.
59.841642, 17.647709 is pretty much where the machine sits.
