Hello all - long time member of the list, and about time for me to get a
machine connected. I have a PiDP-11 running RSX-11M-PLUS 4.6 and BQTCP/IP.
It's emulated, but is up 24/7 and I'm interested in allowing guest logins
or other remote use of the machine. (Even if only to keep those sweet
blinkenlights moving around in more interesting patterns than the idle
loop!)
I'm in Northern Virginia, USA and see that there are two areas in my
neighborhood, 59 and 31.
Who would I reach out to regarding connection to either area?
Also - I'm no RSX-11m wizard (still learning), so I'd be interested in any
pointers to the incantations necessary to forge the Multinet connection
from RSX-11M-PLUS (if this is indeed the recommended approach).

Well, basically, you start by talking to me, and we figure out who to
loop in to get you connected. As you have RSX all setup, it's obviously
fairly easy to just use that as you connection system.
With Virginia, I guess Supratim Sanyal or Peter Lothberg are your two
options, indeed. So one of them looped in, assigning some addresses for
you, and setting up their end of a Multinet link.
Then you configure your machine with the right DECnet address, and the
Multinet link with the right parameters, and you should be up and running.

I have several RSX11M+ nodes on HECnet in Area 30 some are PiDP-11/70s and some are
real PDP-11/83s. I’ve connected a few links using Johnny’s BQ/TCP and the IP-0-n DEnet
circuits configured with his MNC utility. If you have any questions feel free to drop me
an email. I’d be glad to provide example code samples.
I am based in Canyon Lake, Texas.

Hi Mike,
Once you are ready to establish a MULTINET TCP uplink, I can give you 31.xx DECnet
addresses and the MULTINET/TCP endpoint to connect to.
BTW, I currently use DECnet/Python for HECnet.
