I've been going over that system with a friend who is considering
picking it up. It is an extremely dense configuration; DEC would have
installed that in at least three racks. That machine has seen a lot of
non-DEC activity in its life.

I started drooling when I saw that listed. There are only 3 things keeping me from
getting it. Money, space and power. ;) I've already got two racks in my basement. I
don't think I could fit two more plus some sort of disk without domestic trouble
starting. Plus the house doesn't have 3-phase power and, although I haven't
checked, I'm sure this baby would like that. I guess I'll have to be happy with
Simh-11.

Well, that's good to know. I do have 3 30a lines in the basement. It still
leaves $$$. lol I'm sure this will go for a good amount. Getting it from CA to OH
might be a job also.

Syrian Guy for the other 4.
Space-wise I could probably fit a whole VAX 780 in here and still have a few bedrooms

I think that, when you start talking those sorts of numbers, it's
probably going to a good home where it will be taken care of and
appreciated. I just hope it doesn't disappear into a "black hole"
personal collection of a reclusive person and not even get talked about
or shown off. Too much stuff, particularly big IBM stuff, suffers that
fate. Then the wives end up having it all hauled off for scrap when the
guy dies.

Good point. Very few people will toss out that kind of money and let the result go to
waste. If I had that kind of $$$, I'd be hauling it to VCF every chance I could.
Maybe buy a padded van just for the occasion. ;)
