You know, I like "primordial Unix" more than "early Unix".? Of course,
that then leaves the question of what to call the early PDP-11
releases.? Upper Devonian?
I followed the resurrection of PDP-7 based Unix at the computer museum
and, for some strange reason, found the assembler based stuff of more
interest than the latest Ubuntu glitz.
Glitz really leaves me cold if not annoyed.

That would be quite early indeed. :-) PDP-7 Unix was fairly short lived (a year or two?)
and was left behind for a long time once they got the first PDP-11 system at BTL. I would
humbly submit that that might be more properly referred to as,
"primordial Unix".
