APC offered software to detect power failure
using their UPSes for VMS but it
was for the units that predate machines with USB support. Connection was via
serial port.
I have a software product for APC UPSs that understands APC's so-called Smart
protocol. It will work for any of the SmartUPS with a serial connector. The
APC also had a mode where one of the serial signals would drop (essentially,
DTR) when the UPS went on battery. Any UPS doing that signaling can easily
be used to shutdown a VMS system using a $QIO monitoring the associated port
on the system.
If the software?s license allows sharing for hobbyist use, I would like to have a copy if
possible.
Thanks
