Once I got DECnet-Ultrix mostly working, I took the code down to the DEC offices for
Project Athena at MIT. They built a version with DECnet support - the screen came up OK
but moving the mouse around left pieces of random data on the screen. It became a very
useful test tool.

"old days" we did SMTP over DECnet, has anyone considered doing
Telnet,
FTP, HTTP etc over
DECnet transport?
FWIW, VMS has always
had X (windows) over DECnet ?out of the box?, at least as long as there has been
DECwindows. It?s even officially supported by DEC? Johnny
