It [pyDECnet] normally accepts DECnet/MOP and LAT (EtherTypes 0x8003,

Are you sure? I don't think pyDECnet can tunnel either MOP nor LAT ...
That would be fun - I'd love to do a $ LCP SHOW SERVICES and see
hundreds
of hosts/services.
Did that on HECnet a while, but it wasn't really that useful, so
nowadays it's mostly not there anymore.
OTOH, tunneling MOP could be an issue - you'd
have no control over what
version of DECserver software you'd get, unless you're either using a non-
standard load image name or are relying on your local MOP server being
faster to respond than any other MOP server.
For most firmware there aren't more than one version available anyway.
DS300 being the one exception I know of. But yeah, potentially any
server could offer up the image.
But you could also just enable LAT and not MOP being bridged, so you
keep the booting local, but you can access other LAT services.
Speaking of DECservers, if anyone is interested,
here is the most com-
prehensive set of DECserver software images / boot PROMs / documentation /
pictures:

come.
Looks like you still miss some images. I think I have more on MIM...
(But I haven't looked very thoroughly...)
