So any chances that the DECNET stuff from 4.0 will work on 4.5 or are the kernel hooks etc

You misunderstood me - the experience is just a tad worse than say VMS,
I almost get the feeling that this was like their unwanted step child..
That it may have been, but honestly, when it was current, it really
was very competitive overall, when compared to the other UNIX
implementations that were available.
