[HECnet] Re: Is there a copy of VMSfreeware on HECnet?

Hehe, yup, Multinet‘s exactly what I’m trying to do, here. But the Multinet ZIP I have has bad attribs from passing thru other systems, so UNZIP can’t grok it and is telling me I have to set it to stream using some utility on the freeware cd (which I can’t unzip :). Hence the ask to copy it on HECnet so the file transfer doesn’t clobber the attribs and I can actually use it. If you can suggest some noob discs that have fun beginner stuff on them, I’m all ears! Would def dig getting curl, python, c, stuff like that since I’m of course a unix devotee by day… Haven’t used VAX/VMS since teen years when my college still had a 780, so am super rusty and don’t know anything about the advent of OpenVMS and all the modernizing porting of unix stuff, etc. Seems fun and exciting! We should do ‘real work’ like this using HECnet and make it awesome. And I guess we are! Maybe I should take notes in hopes of making a new user readme / tutorial / resources guide for HECnet _on HECnet_ :) thx! jake
