Addresses are node addresses, not interface addresses. The reason Phase V handles multiple interfaces (whether on the same LAN or not) is that it doesn't set the MAC address, as Phase IV does. Instead, the nodes keep a table of node address to MAC address mappings -- analogous to the ARP table in IP, but derived from (a) hello messages and (b) incoming traffic rather than from broadcasts.
