Oh, and for the really twisted part... I have actually played some with XHomer. And I
actually can get an XHomer instance up and running hooked to HECnet.
However, something have become a bit broken on simh for me faking a serial port. I need
to check this up a bit, but I should be able to get BJARNE:: online later today I hope...
XHomer does a decent job of emulating a fixed config Pro-350. It doesn't do
the end of frame interrupt right for the display (it goes very fast rather than at 50/60
Hz as it should) so a display driver that uses that interrupt for timing things like
cursor blink acts strangely. Yes, I have such a driver...
It's an improperly licensed fork of a very very ancient SIMH. Improper, because
XHomer says it's GPL while the base SIMH it was taken from has a license incompatible
with GPL. And while the XHomer author has indicated some interest in fixing this, I
haven't heard anything further in years.
If we want proper Pro emulation it's likely it will have to be done from scratch
under the SIMH license. That's clearly doable though somewhat painful to duplicate
the work.
I know that there are multiple points/issues with XHomer. But it's the only one that
exist, that I know of.
True, except for the fact that it's not actually a legal distribution.
