router and can talk to the rest of the world.

Ps: there is some additional work on the cisco suggestion, cisco
assumes DECnet Ethernet frames and there are differences on
how for example routing vectors are sent on a PtP link vs an Ethernet.
A router that connects Ethernet to a point to point link takes care of that. And routing
vector messages are actually identical on both. What's different are the link
initialization messages (hello and, for point to point, the init messages) and the headers
on data frames.
