hey all! sent this earlier in the week but i think my message was
dropped... new to HECnet and currently getting my machines connected-
i'll be bringing along an 11/83, a uVAX3100, and a PWS600AU! i had a few
questions though, and wanted to get some feedback.
one of my projects has been to build a proper retrocomputing lab, a
slice of my LAN with only period-correct hardware and software. part of
that is networking of course, and as part of that i've been eyeing a
DEChub with DECbrouter and DECswitch to connect my retrolab. based on my
understanding of the DECbrouter documentation, it should be usable for
both DECnet and TCP/IP, but i wanted to make sure that this is the case
before i go spending any money. would there be any issues hooking this
all up with modern equipment?
i'm also wondering if there are any general recommendations (or
recommended documentation) for system security on 11M+ and VMS. i'm
planning to open my retro systems up to some friends and acquaintances
to encourage exploration, so i'd like to make sure my machines are
secure and reliable.
appreciate any info you can provide!
