I've built my second and like you surprised/pleased by the performance
on relatively modest hardware. KVM and their ilk only put a tiny amount
of overhead into the mix these days. However, I was secretly expecting
to need a full 8+ cores and 64GB RAM.....but nope.
I'm running on KVM under ubuntu (basically debian+KVM), I can't get it
running under KVM on Proxmox which is a bit surprising (basically
debian+KVM). I might revisit that.
