Running antique software isn't any stranger than jumping out of perfectly good
airplanes, or punching holes in cardboard from a distance.
Also consider this, some of this antique software is still in use, because there isn’t a
suitable replacement. Some of the antique software I’m running, is still in use, because
I can’t see spending the money to upgrade. Case in point Adobe Creative Suite Premium
CS6, after this release, the moved to “Adobe Cloud”, and I’m not paying a monthly fee for
apps I only use at most a few times a year. I still have Word Perfect and dBase files
from up to 35 years ago, it’s nice being able to access them. On that note, it’s very
irritating to find that while the current Office365 for PC can open older Mac files, the
Mac version can’t. I discovered this, much to my irritation about a year ago.
Of course, some of this is just for fun. Thanks to Linux 0.12, I realized 30 years ago,
that my favorite video games were “Operating Systems”. This is why I run MVS 3.8j and
Multics.
