Hi Peter,
Sorry, you'll have to explain what you're asking me. Johnny set up ORAC
connectivity - I don't think there is anything unusual going on, but if
you tell me how to look for it I can investigate.
Regards, Mark.

Btw, how non-routing node decides which of routing nodes should be adjacent node?
The Auto-Install procedure for F77 only came in V5.4. V5.3 uses another installation procedure.

Yes I agree mailman would be simpler.
I can set up an unlimited number of GNU mailman lists on sonic.net, but
the problem is convincing people to use it instead of the other one. I
suppose we could always subscribe it to Johnny's list - that way it'd at
least serve as an archive.
As for the wiki, if I build it (i.e. set it up and host it), will you come?
:)
Will I read it ? Sure... Will I write for it? Maybe :-) Seriously -
it depends on how much time I have. Of course you can always try to convice
others to write for it too - it'd be great to have notes about configuring
the various operating systems and installing DECnet, for example.
Bob
How about a HECnet wiki that has a quick reference guide and a link to a
mail archive?
I think it's a great idea, but Johnny has always opposed a mail archive
for HECnet. I suppose you could always just archive a copy of the messages
yourself, but that seems silly. We should just use a mailing list manager
(e.g. GNU mailman) that has a web interface and an archive. If you can get
it past Johnny, then go for it.
Bob
Yeah, it's a problem between the linux mail-11 daemon and my software. Please kill the mail if you can.

It's been discussed several times on this list. We really need a "HECnet
wiki", "HECnet quick reference guide", or at least a mail archive!

My hosting provider provides one-click installs of MediaWiki that they maintain for you, it's not a lot of effort (I'm volunteering here).

You can subscribe any number of addresses you want.
Yes, running this list on HECnet itself would be cool, and might eventually happen. But at the same time, moving a "known" address is always a bad thing.
I'll eventually get to writing smtp code for RSX. We'll see what happens after that. ;-)

It has made me setup a proper user account on it now (rather than just use
"system"), so if you like you can reach me on rob at vax780.decnet.org. No
guarantees that I will read it that often though, unless the critical mass
is reached.... :-)
Really though we should run this list on HECnet itself :-) Is there any list
software that runs on VMS? I guess it wouldn't help for recruiting new
people though if the list was off the internet though.

Yes, LEGATO is running one. You can send mail to
"user at node.decnet.org",
where "user" and "node" are your HECnet node name and your local
user name.
I've been tempted to kill it - it spends most of its time
processing
SPAM
- but for the moment it's still working.

I'm actually using the LEGATO:: mail gateway from time to time. Please don't shut it down before I've written a replacement for RSX... :-)
