Trivia question: what are the major differences between programming

sounds like the DUV11's isochronous (= async?) mode works and the DU11's
doesn't, but that's the only difference I can see and I don't see how
it matters for DDCMP use. And yet, DECnet/RSX has different names for
them, as if it's using separate drivers for each.
If DECnet/RSX uses different names, then it is also definitely using different drivers.
However, who knows if the actual contents of the drivers differ, or if they just liked having different names for them. :-)
(I can check next week. Please remind me...)

Well, I deleted the MONGEN.MIC file, ran a whole MONGEN and then did the compile and link as per installation manual. The only stupid thing I noticed is I was compiling (not linking in) the DTEPRM.MAC source, which is KL specific.

I just made another compile WITHOUT ANF-10 and now I have got no
missing symbols. This begins to look somehow as black magic.

I will give up by now.

It's unfortunate both of us had to give up. :(

The Software Installation Guide lists a bunch of MONGEN questions related to
DECnet on KS10s, asking for KMC/DUP or DMR hardware characteristics. A quick
Google search seems to confirm that both KMC and DMR are very similar to DMC
and software compatible with it. DMR should be a DMC enhancement/replacement.
The KMC11 is a user programmable microcontroller that's the basis of the DMC11. But it's not a compatible replacement. Instead, the KMC was used as a co-processor to drive a "dumb interface" like the DUP11. So no, if you have a DMC or DMR, you do *not* call for KMC/DUP support in your monitor.

Add the VDE stuff first... I can't tell the full list of packages now. But it is worth to have!
