Mentec got the -11 stuff...but I don't think that included the -10 stuff...did it?

Evening,
What IS the current copyright status on TOPS-10/20? Who owns it? I assume it's still copyrighted I assume...and I doubt the current copyright owner would bother to enforce their rights to it.
If it was copyrighted originally, that copyright is certainly still valid. Anything that didn t expire prior to the last set of changes will remain valid for decades, thanks to the Mickey Mouse Protection Act.
Interesting question who owns it. Did HP get that piece of DEC?

Just curious.

I wonder if it is even VMS. I had to do work for some fine company with a
ticketing monoploy, which used VAXen, but had a custom OS, which tied them
to not only VAX hardware, but a specific model.
The best part was their networking which involved UDP and a custom terminal
application. To make them secure they used DoD IPs which is great when one
of your other clients is the DoD.
They had never seen PPTP before, and were taken aback when I had their
application running in a new building that day.. And even showed them it
running over a VPN over the internet. Apparently that was something that
they had been struggling with. Oh well, 2002 was a million years ago.

Perhaps I'd better sell them one of my many VAXstation 4000-60's .
If they would have a vaxcluster license I might even sell them two units
:-)
Or would two VAX 4000-105A's ?with a DSSI bus be a better solution....

Yup, that's it. Gone are my dreams of setting up a high tech
exporting firm between the Netherlands and Hawaii (and
possibly even visiting the island).
And all that because I couldn't support a lineprinter (very
likely a real
LP11) on a VAXstation 4000 model 60. :-\ Hans
PS
ISTR a serial parallel interface but that might have
connected a serial printer to a parallel port, hmmm....

If they have unibus peripherals you might need a qbus vax with a
bridge to unibus.

Hmm I wonder if such a thing exists. Unibus-to-qbus
exists at least.
