I'll start!
Various such lists have been started over time, but I don't think anybody
was willing to maintain them.
I agree that it's hard to figure out routing issues when the network
topology is unknown! A nice HECnet map would be worth its weight in gold
about now.
Area: 2
Name: Bob Armstrong
Location: Milpitas, CA (Western US)
Router: LEGATO:: - connected via bridge and Multinet Tunnels
Bob
The Multinet license on SG1:: has expired. I tried to connect to
process.com to fix this but it keeps timing out. At the moment the only
thing running from this site is the bridge.
Stay tuned...
-Steve
In the meantime, maybe we could ask members to check-in with their area,
name, and location. That would help me figure out what is going on at
this end. It may help others as well.
Area 54 is located in Dublin, Ireland. Router is CEIRE connected via Multinet
tunnel. A second (Cisco) router A54RTR is connected via GRE tunnels. No bridge
connections here.
Everything looks ok from here now. I can reach area 7. Earlier, area 7 appeared
in the list of known networks here but I could not reach it. It appeared to me
that only GORVAX was advertising that it knew how to reach area 7 directly,
which was odd for an area connected via the bridge.
Regards,
Peter Coghlan.
Ian,
I would run either RSX-11M-PLUS or RSTS/E. I am running RSTS/E on one
machine, and if I can ever recover my RSX kit I will be running M+ on
the other machine.

Area 42 is down at the moment - maybe up this weekend though
- I just acquired my first PDP11 so I'll be experimenting
with it this weekend (a long weekend in Canada).
Any suggestions on what to run on a PDP11/73?
Area 42 is in Kelowna, BC, Canada. The router is CANADA::

I have currently area 7 and 8 disabled on my bridge, just
FYI. Seems
to have at least stabilized things on my side.
Routing loops are bad. However, DECnet should normally be able to
resolve this, and get things right, as from a topology
point of view,
DECnet can have multiple paths between nodes. Something is wrong,
indeed...
The current list of the areas are on MIM::, which is shut
down at the
moment, because of the issues with the computer hall. I
hope to have
the machine back up and running soon...
Since GORVAX have an alternative connection, I'll keep it
off at my
end for now, for trouble shooting. As things looks stable
right now,
it will be interesting to turn area 7 back on and see what
happens.
Hold on to your hats...

At this moment my host computer seems to be back into the normal status. I've rebooted it and restarted all the VMS, CPU usage and routing information seems to be fine. You could try to reenable me as soon as you want.
