I'm in the Dallas-Fort Worth areas (Fort Worth specifically). I shut down my MicroVAX
and Alphas a couple weeks ago due to heat. Yesterday and today marks the first break in
100+ degree days Since Aug 4th and before that we had 21 days in a row above 100 including
6 consecutive 105+ days. Also yesterday and today we had overnight lows of 78 and 75.
First time below 80 in 359 hours (14.95 days) a new record for the area.
All temps are in Fahrenheit.

or on HECnet. (I still need to wrap my head around DECnet-11M for the
non-Plus RSX systems.)
Also a Systems Concepts SC-40, though it's not yet addressed on
DECnet. Some of our folks need to bone up on TOPS-20 admin skills
before we turn the public loose on that, but it's up 24/7.
Our Symbolics XL-1201 Lisp Machine has DECnet installed, and our
gaggle of Symbolics 3600-series machines will too, once we restore them.
And we're working on getting 4DDN working on an SGI running IRIX. I
personally am also working on an Ultrix-32 DECnet-enabled system disk
for a MicroVAX-II, which will be coming up soon. And I have a DEPCA
board sitting here, which will be used to implement DECnet-DOS on one of
the IBM PC-AT machines upstairs on the second floor, which is mostly
microcomputers.
That's about 5% of our on-exhibit machines. The rest don't have
DECnet protocol stacks. (IBM mainframes and midrange systems, Crays,
Transputer systems, Data General/Varian/Burroughs/HP minis)
So yes, wink all you want, my friend; we long ago adopted the "go big
or go home" mentality, and the proof is in the running machines and the
visitors practically passing out as soon as they walk through the front
door. B-)

I'm in Houston. Pretty much all that you just said, and add in high
humidity as well. We don't go outside. Houston would be a great place to
recruit lunar colonists - we never go outside most of the year, and if
the life support systems fail (air conditioning) we immediately
recognize it as a life threatening emergency.

Had a nasty storm this past weekend, I have not acquired a Round-Tuit to
get my couple of SIMH systems up. Minimal damage, but I can't say that
for other neighbors. Some can see daylight in various rooms in their
houses. Fixed now, but there were multiple poles down. Power out from
Saturday 2PM->Sunday 8PM. I have a generator and the office is included,
but didn't want to waste fuel by running the systems. If it wouldn't have
been for 26 hours, maybe .... ;)

And I forgot to mention the KS10s, but those will be a while. We'll
probably bridge them over via a sync serial line.
One of them is close to working, but it has some bad bits in the line
of buffers between the CSL board and the CPU bus. Those extra-tall
boards need two extenders stacked to get far enough out of the card cage
for probing, and we just got a second extender. We have an RM02 that
spins up and loads heads, but we have to deal with that troublesome
jumper for 36-bit use and then figure out how to write an image onto a pack.
We have one of LCM's MASSBUS disk emulators, but we need to gather
funds to purchase the FPGA board that it works with.
Then there will be even more real iron on HECnet. :)
