Well yes but its another device using power , that has to be purchased and configured. So my supplier Zen offer to port your number and provision it on your router for £6/month which includes 1000 mins/month.

Their router has a socket you can patch into your existing phones or it can act as a DECT base station which makes providing resilience in the event of power fail easy, just power the ONT and router, my DECT phones are specified as having 10 days on standby…

.. or you can get just a number from Andrews & Arnold (A&A) who have a super cheap service for £1.20/month so saving £60/year. However you need to buy hardware and the cheapest I could find looks to be around £50. If you buy from A&A more like £150 and then you need extra UPS if you want it to work in a power cut…..

… so a long time before you really save….

  If you’re willing to configure your own SIP phone, or better yet set up Asterisk, then there are any number of providers out there that offer call termination DIDs for way less than the ISPs do.  We use DIDforSale.com and get two dial in numbers for about $3-4 per month.   One caveat is that the calls are metered, so if you talk a lot then you’ll pay more.
